Massimiliano Allegri assured Juventus “will be competitive” in Serie A and the Champions League after a 2-0 win over Carpi.

The Bianconeri have already secured the fifth consecutive Scudetto, but didn’t let off and enjoyed their 25th win in the last 26 rounds.

“This was a difficult game considering the celebrations we had earlier this week, as between parties and days of rest we could’ve lost focus,” the Coach told Mediaset Premium and Sky Sport Italia.

“Let’s not forget we have the Coppa Italia Final with Milan on May 21, so if we relax now, it’ll be tricky to get back on point. We must do even better away to Verona next time.

“We want to enjoy our football, but also use these matches to improve technically, play as a team and not as individuals, whereas today I saw a few too many personal duels.”

There was a banner in the stands from supporters thanking Allegri for being ‘a true commander.’

“I was pleased, but I’ve already thanked them many times for their support. We need to keep the concentration levels up for the rest of the season. We’re not done yet.”

Will Allegri announce his contract renewal tomorrow and has the club promised a ‘gift’ to keep him in Turin?

“No announcement, we will meet over the next week. Juventus will have a competitive squad for Serie A and the Champions League. We need to make some evaluations in midfield.”

Simone Zaza was on target today, but confessed to feeling frustrated at the lack of playing time.

“He had a lot of patience and so did I,” replied Allegri. “I have to make choices and being in a big club means competition for places.

“This was his first year at Juventus and he was decisive, as the goal against Napoli was fundamental, but he plays for a top club and that means always giving his best.”
