|Incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte wants Juventus forward Alvaro Morata to join him at Stamford Bridge next season.
The Spaniard arrived at the Bianconeri in the summer of 2014 from Real Madrid after Conte left the club, and his time in Turin has been relatively successful. As a result he has attracted interest from several other Premier League clubs as well.
Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Leicester City are all interested in Morata, particularly the latter two as they have automatically qualified for next season’s Champions League.
Bundesliga powerhouse Borussia Dortmund are also interested. They are well-acquainted with Morata’s abilities after he scored twice against them in last year’s Champions League.
However, despite the interest, the striker’s fate is in the hands of his former club Real Madrid, as they have the option to bring Morata back to Spain for €30 million.
According to Marca, the Spaniard wants certain guarantees should Madrid exercise their option, chiefly that he will be a prominent fixture in the starting line-up.
“If he will not start, it will be very difficult for him to return to Madrid,” a source close to Morata said.
The 23-year-old is currently happy to stay in Turin, even if his relationship with coach Massimiliano Allegri hasn’t been exactly ideal this season.
Morata has flickered in and out of the starting line-up as Paulo Dybala has stepped in and featured as the Bianconeri’s main attacking option after joining from Palermo in the summer.
Juventus are set to meet with Madrid in the coming weeks to work out a deal to sign Morata permanently, in a deal that could cost in the region of €15-25m.
However, should Madrid not accept the offer, Morata could be free to go elsewhere to a club who are willing to spend upwards of €48m for him.
