A 28-man Italy squad was recently announced by former Juventus boss Antonio Conte, which of course would have included some players from the Old Lady but for the Coppa Italia with AC Milan.

The understanding was anyone playing in this final on Saturday wouldn't form part of this training camp but Leonardo Bonucci was named on it.

Bonucci isn't technically involved though as he's suspended.

La Gazzetta dello Sport has reported this threatens, indeed it already has proven to be, the latest fallout between the Italian national side and club sides (including Juve) in Serie A with this inclusion blocked anyway.

Having Conte in the Azzurri corner has helped, certainly when it comes to Juve, but his departure to Chelsea in the summer could leave the national side having further power drawn away from it and that will ultimate leave Italy at risk of becoming weaker as a competing nation.

As it happens, a deals a deal though, even though Bonucci's suspended he's still an important member of the squad so the Bianconeri wanting him around for the final showdown is fair enough, Juve also (in fairness) have no obligation to let him go!
