|Friendship will be put to one side when Napoli head to Juventus on Saturday night, but Paulo Dybala insists he will happily leave Capocannoniere honours to compatriot Gonzalo Higuain if the Bianconeri clinch the Scudetto at the end of the season.
With the Partenopei topping Serie A by two points over the Old Lady, their encounter in Turin has become one of the most eagerly anticipated in recent seasons.
After a sluggish start to the campaign, the 22-year-old has played a major part in shooting the reigning champions back into title contention, but still sits some 11 goals behind his Argentina teammate.
“I would agree to Higuain finishing top scorer if I end the season as Italian champion,” Dybala told Rai.
“He is a friend. I met him with the national team and have played against him. Now with Napoli he is an opponent again. I want to better him in terms of all that he has won and all his goals, as they are all fantastic.”
Dybala was relegated to the bench for several of Juve’s opening matches this season, but he believes Massimiliano Allegri was right to do so as he needed to adapt to his new surroundings.
“He has been very important for me,” he stated. “He knew that I needed time to settle in, as it isn’t easy to move from Palermo to Juventus.
