|Legend and experienced goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon was tonight drawn in ninth place in the overall draw for the 2016 Ballon d'Or.
With 187 journalists across the planet voting on the final 30 man shortlist that was released the other month, eleven players in total failed to receive a single vote in the final stage of the competition but that didn't apply to Buffon.
Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid took the prize on the evening, with Barcelona's Lionel Messi, Atletico Madrid's Antoine Griezmann, and Barcelona duo Luis Suarez and Neymar making up the top five on the evening.
Buffon came in at ninth place though in the final votes, tied with Real Madrid's Pepe and to be honest - when you consider his tender age between the sticks these days but his incredible success with us once more in 2015/16 as we lifted another Scudetto, it's a testament to the man's professionalism that he continues to perform way above average given the new breed of hyped goalkeepers who count age as their friend.
But you can't buy experience and knowledge can you.
Well done Buffon, but commiserations to Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain who didn't feature in the final list based on voting.
Former midfielder Paul Pogba finished in joint 14th place having received just four votes.
1st - Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid/Portugal).
2nd - Lionel Messi (Barcelona/Argentina).
3rd - Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid/France).
4th - Luis Suarez (Barcelona/Uruguay).
5th - Neymar (Barcelona/Brazil).
6th - Gareth Bale (Real Madrid/Wales).
7th - Rihad Mahrez (Leicester City/Algeria).
8th - Jamie Vardy (Leicester City/England).
9th - Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus/Italy) & Pepe (Real Madrid/Portugal).
11th - Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Borussia Dortmund/Gabon).

16th - Robert Lewandowski (Bayern Munich/Germany). (three points)
17th - Toni Kroos (Real Madrid/Germany) & Luka Modric (Real Madrid/Croatia) & Dimitri Payet (West Ham/France). (one point)
